Places to Visit in Goa

1. Panaji or Panjim

Of all the places to visit in Goa, the capital city is a good place to start. Colonial churches, cathedrals, old buildings and multi coloured villas standing on cobblestone streets – is Panaji in a nutshell. Add to this delightful setting the lovely Miramar beach, an offshore casino, and a restored fort with river and sea views; and you have yourself a couple of days full of exploration and entertainment.

2. Old Goa

Towering churches and impressive convents are what remains of this once grand and now abandoned capital city of colonial Goa. Part ruins and part museums, a trip to Old Goa is like being transported back in time – some of the restored architecture is in use currently, bringing you back to the real world.

3. Calangute and Baga beaches

In a destination where there’s a famous beach around every other corner, Calangute stands out for its size and popularity. The largest beach in Goa, it is a tourist hub – brimming with restaurants, shacks, and water sport activities, and transforming itself in the evenings into a party hub. Calangute extends into Baga beach, a lovely strip of sand perfect for water sports in the day, which comes alive in the evenings for a large scale party.

4. Fort Aguada

With the serene Sinquerim beach on one side, Fort Aguada and its iconic lighthouse make quite a pretty picture. Spend an afternoon exploring this old structure overlooking the sea, stretch your visit till sunset for some of the best sea views in Goa.

5. Dudhsagar Falls

One of the highest waterfalls in the country, Dudhsagar Falls stand tall at over one thousand feet. Located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary and Mollem National Park, they are surrounded by a lush tree forest. Trek to the falls, join an overnight camp, or simply get there in a van organized by the park.
